If you experience errors when installing the game - cancel the install and download the 64bit installer, this should be in the extras folder of any newer patches or mods - NOTE DO NOT PATCH THE GAME AT ALL IF YOU ARE MODDING AND SWITCH OFF AUTOMATIC UPDATES IN STEAM AS SOON AS IT IS INSTALLED - ALL PATCHES ARE INCLUDED WITH ANY MOD YOU DOWNLOAD. Steam users do not bother trying to run this via steam (nothing happens), open steam login and then go to the install folder send a shortcut to the desktop (or wherever you like) and then alter its permissions to admin and compatability settings to Windows XP service pack 3 (do this to the game exe too). Even if you say, yes run this install or program as admin - 10 still limits software activity, on my first windows 10 install it wouldn't let my antivirus remove anything and then proceeded to over-ride all my file permissions so I could not re-file anything on to my storage drives (thank god for regedit to take ownership on my second install - it bricked my OS).īasically, install everything as an administrator including steam (right click on the installers and select run as admin), then change all exe's permissions to run in administrtor mode and it's also worth creating a second User account within windows without full amdin rights as the UAC error that I encountered with moving files only happens when you only have one account with admin rights - don't ask me why, grr Microsoft! Another thing to do, as someone else mentioned is to change the permissions for the shortcut your using as well as the game exe. I do have the steam version however, but the main reason I was getting issues is because Windows treats you like a moron and the fixes for windows 8 should fix your issues for 10.

My fellow VMB fans - I know this is a bit late to the party but I am currently on Windows 10 with the Antitribu mod and its all systems are go (after multiple attempts, cough).

I sense problem might be in DirectX 9 because when I try to install it PC says 'windows does not support this version'. Patched, reinstalled, various compatibilities, nothing.
